By 2034 there will be 72.5 million Americans over 65, and three out of four adults over 50 say they want to stay in their own home. Somebody has to build the businesses that make that possible.

Dan Durney of Assisting Hands Home Care and Patrick Findaro of Visa Franchise open up the home care franchise model: the territory, the staffing, the investment, and what it takes for an international investor to own and run one in the U.S.

Why this market

You cannot advertise your way into demand this size

Most franchise decisions come down to a guess about whether enough people will want the thing you are selling. Home care does not need that guess. Everyone who will turn 65 in the next decade is alive today.

What we will cover

Caregiver assisting a client at home

How a territory operates

Dan walks through the day-to-day: how care hours are sold and scheduled, how caregivers are recruited and retained, what the franchisor handles centrally, and what an owner is responsible for in the first year.

Caregiver bringing tea to a client

What the $98,050 to $181,200 covers

Where the money goes, what the franchise fee buys, what training and support Assisting Hands provides after you sign, and how owners think about a second territory once the first one is running.

Client and caregiver laughing together

Buying it from abroad

Patrick covers the investor side: how the purchase is structured, what setting up and running the business in the U.S. involves when you are relocating a family, and where the independent immigration attorney takes over.

Who you will hear from

One person who has run franchise development for a home care brand since 2019, and one who has spent a decade helping people from outside the U.S. buy American businesses.

Dan has led franchise development at Assisting Hands since March 2019, and has worked in franchise development across several brands for more than a decade. A closer look at the model

A staffing and scheduling business, not a storefront

No buildout, no inventory, no foot traffic

Home care runs out of a modest office. No kitchen to fit out, no lease in a shopping center, no dependence on a good corner. Most of what you invest goes into hiring and getting the first clients.

Revenue that repeats week after week

Clients book recurring hours of care, and a family that starts with 20 hours a week usually keeps that schedule for months. The operation lives or dies on recruiting and scheduling.

Jobs are built into the model

You cannot deliver care without caregivers. Hiring is the first thing you do, not a milestone you reach later, and it stays the core of the operation.

The brand

Assisting Hands Home Care

Founded in 2006 and franchising since 2007, Assisting Hands provides non-medical in-home care, and skilled care where the territory allows. Dan Durney has run franchise development there since 2019 and will walk through the model on August 13.

Figures come from the Visa Franchise brand file and the franchisor's Franchise Disclosure Document. Nothing on this page is an estimate or projection of the revenue or profit of any franchise. The FDD is the document that governs, and Assisting Hands provides it directly.

Assisting Hands is an E-2 Approved Brand

E-2 Approved Brands™ is our own program of franchises we review before putting them in front of investors. Fewer than 2% of the businesses we look at make it through.

Each brand clears a five-point review: investment structure, job creation, buildout complexity, the franchisor's track record with owners based outside the U.S., and how the business fits the kind of case an immigration attorney works with.

The seal reflects our own commercial due diligence. It is not a determination of your eligibility and is not issued by any government agency. That assessment belongs to the independent immigration attorney you engage directly.

Before you register

Do I need a background in healthcare?

No. Assisting Hands owners come from other industries and hire the licensed and certified staff the work requires. Dan covers what the franchisor trains you on and what you hire for.

How much do I need to invest?

The published investment range for a single territory is $98,050 to $181,200, which includes the franchise fee. The Franchise Disclosure Document breaks down every line item and Assisting Hands provides it directly to anyone who moves forward.

Will you tell me whether I qualify for a visa?

No, and be careful with anyone who does. Visa Franchise is a business consulting firm, not a law firm. Eligibility is a legal assessment made by the independent immigration attorney you engage directly, based on your full situation. What we cover on the webinar is how the business and the process work.

Do I have to run the business myself?

Owners are typically hands-on in the first year, especially on recruiting and building referral relationships. Dan explains how the role changes once a territory is staffed and how owners approach a second location.

Is this an hour of sales pitch?

It is an hour with the person who runs franchise development for the brand, which means he does want to meet good owners. He will also answer the awkward questions, which is the point of doing it live. Bring them to the Q&A.

What if I cannot attend live?

Register anyway. We send the recording to everyone on the list the following day, along with the slides.
