Portugal may become an E2 treaty country very soon, so it is important for you to know about the golden visa portugal. The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed the AMIGOS Act, the Advancing Mutual Interests and Growing Our Success Act, which would give Portuguese nationals the opportunity to invest in a business to move to the U.S. through the E2 visa.

Golden Visa Portugal Could Be an E2 Visa Country

The E2 visa is a renewable nonimmigrant investor visa. To qualify for the E-2 visa, the investor must accomplish some requirements. Such as holding a passport from an E-2 country, investing a substantial amount of capital in a U.S. business, and owning at least 50% of that business.

With an E2 visa, the spouse is eligible to work in the U.S. and children are able to stay in the U.S. on their parent's E-2 visa until they are 21 years of age.

Portugal could become an E2 country if the Portuguese government creates a similar visa opportunity for U.S (such as the golden visa Portugal). Citizens, as E2 countries are required to be reciprocal.

Mutually Beneficial to the U.S. and Portugal

If Portuguese entrepreneurs are eligible for the E2 visa, they will be able to invest, direct, and develop U.S. businesses. Not only would this contribute to the U.S. economy, but it would also increase job creation in the U.S.

The most recent E2 treaty countries that have joined the list are New Zealand and Israel. For a list of all E-2 visa countries, please visit this link here.
